Holiday Blitz Swap

I am actually out of town and will delay this post until after the swap.

I am on my way back to Arizona for a work trip and get to be a guest at the weStamp meeting while I’m there.  I’m so excited to meet these girls I know only through their blogs!  I made this card for the swap.  It was hard because I don’t have many stamps that aren’t retiring!  I placed my order for new stamps on July 1st and they just arrived Monday evening–the 14th.  Frustrating that it takes so long here in Virginia!  I love the new stuff but have my daughter and grandaughter here for a couple days so I can’t take time to stamp before my trip.

This is a black card base with a layer of Kraft and Real Red.  Both colors are stamped with the Canvas background stamp in Creamy Carmel ink then I also sponged Creamy Caramel around the edges.

The apple image and the “thank you” is from Holiday Blitz stamp set.  I used the Real Red, Garden Green, and Close to Cocoa markers to create the image.   Also used is the 1/8″ circle punch (to make the 6 small black dots), the scallop circle punch, the 1 3/8″ circle punch, the 1 1/4″ circle punch, dimensionals, and Black Gingham ribbon.

Addition:  What a wonderful group of ladies in the weStamp group!  Thank you SO much to Nancy, Lorri, and Pam for inviting and sharing with me!  It was wonderful to meet you all and I had a great time!  You’re all just as fun and talented as I thought you’d be!  I got some really great swaps too that I’ll share when I get home!

Vintage Violet Blossoms

Here’s a throw-back to the past in colors and stamps…but I still love them!

I made this card for a friend who is having a birthday today!  These are “in colors”  from 2006-7.

This is a Vintage Violet card base with some Apricot Appeal, Marigold Morning, True Thyme, and Natural Ivory.  The stamp sets used are Both Ways Blossoms, All Through the Year, and Happy Everything.  Both Ways Blossoms was stamped with Stazon Black on the Natural Ivory.  I stamped a fourth flower and cut it out and popped it up to give some dimension.  I painted the flowers with the blender pen and reinkers of Vintage Violet, Marigold Morning, and True Thyme.  The ribbon is Apricot Appeal grosgrain.  The “Happy” and “Birthday” are stamped in True Thyme ink on true thyme cardstock.  The leaf pattern from All Through the Year is stamped on the Vintage Violet with Vintage Violet ink.  Add a couple staples and voila!

Bella Rose Bird-day!

Don’t you just love the Pun Fun stamp set?

I got my new stuff just the other day finally and only had a few minutes to pull something together for a niece’s birthday.

This is a Riding Hood Red card base with a layer of Pink Pirouette and then Bella Rose designer paper with a touch of Kiwi Kiss.  I used the ticket punch on the corners.  The bird is stamped with Basic Black on the Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, and Kiwi Kiss.  The different pieces were cut out and attached to the whisper white which is popped up with dimensionals.  The ribbon is non-SU.

Cupcake Challenge #24

You can find Taylor’s Cupcake Challenge here.  Thanks Taylor!  This was not a comfortable one for me.  Here’s what I did with it.

This is a Close to Cocoa Base with a layers of the Berry Bliss Designer Paper.  I stamped the Summer By the Sea image with brown Stazon and used my aqua painters and reinkers to watercolor the image.  I used Purely Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa, Mellow Moss, Blush Blossom, and Soft Sky.  I think I used the So Saffron marker for the little girl’s hair and butterflies.

I used the ticket punch for the outer corners.  The scallop punch, 1 3/8″ punch, 3/4″ circle punches were used.  The center of the flower is a Pink Circle Rhinestone brad.  The paper piercer was used on the scallop circle.  The stamp set on the scallop circle is Think Happy Thoughts stamped in Chocolate Chip and the flower in Purely Pomegranate.  Dimensionals pop up the image layers and the scallop circle layer.  The ribbon is Pink Grosgrain

Garden Butterfly Mojo45

Here is the Mojo45 sketch challenge by Julee Tilman.  Yes, I’m a little slow getting to it this week but was anxious to try it nonetheless!

Here’s my card.  It’s Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana, and Ruby Red.  I think most of it is pretty self explanitory.  I stamped 2 of the Garden Whimsey Butterflies in Chocolate Chip on Naturals White cardstock.  Then I stamped one of the butterflies in So Saffron on So Saffron cs.  I stamped again in Ruby Red onto Ruby Red cs and cut them both out (wings only) and attached to the Chocolate Chip butterflies on the Naturals White cs.  I pierced the corners using the mat pack and paper piercer and popped it up with some dimensionals.  The background is the flowers from Background Basics in Versamark on the Barely Banana.  The “thank you” from All Holidays is in Chocolate Chip on So Saffron then punched with the word punch.  I made the scallop with the corner rounder–my scallop punch won’t be here til Monday!  Yea!  and then punched 1/8″ holes in it.  The brown dots in the corners are just the holes from the punched scallop.  Finished off with some white taffeta ribbon and a touch of stickles.

I’ve Been Tagged…

Well, I have mixed feelings about being tagged…  I’m grateful some of you find my blog helpful or interesting or inspiring enough to visit with me.  So thank you so much Sara from Lily’s Ink Pad.  I enjoy looking at blogs of those who visit mine and Sara has a fun blog with some cute cards and projects.

On the other hand…I sure hate trying to come up with stuff about myself and I don’t personally know very many other stamping bloggers to pass along tags to!  So here goes!

1.  Probably the most weird fact about myself (at least anyone that knows me tells me they can’t believe it) is that I love to play co-op campaign x-box games!  Rainbow 6 Vegas I & II are my favorite (they have the best guns!) followed by Halo and Ghost Recon.  That’s what you’ll find my husband and I doing on our Friday night dates if we’re not at the movies or out to dinner.  I suppose if you don’t know me, it’s not too big of a shock.

2.  Don’t worry, the rest won’t be that long…I’ve kept scrapbooks (even before it was the thing to do)  my whole life and ones for each of my kids (4) but since discovering stamping (4 years ago) I’m now 4 years behind in my scrapbooking.

3.  I’ve always loved to sing in choirs but I started taking voice lessons when I was 32ish (the story of “why” is long) and learned to sing solos.   I have sung solos for parties, church, funerals, and special programs such as Handel’s Messiah at Christmastime.

4.  I like to change out of my clothes and into my jammies about 6 p.m. in the evenings.  I’m not sure why.  My youngest son is the same way and right after dinner he is up showering and getting his jammies on.

5.  I am the only daughter and oldest child in a family of 5 children.  I have no idea what it’s like to have a sister.  Oh, that sounds pathetic…

7.  My choice of chocolate is Sees dark chocolate truffles.

7.  I grew up in Northwest Colorado (ski country) and never once went skiing (loved to snowmobile).  I learned to ski after I moved to Arizona and got married and had my first child.

That was real exciting….

Now for the 7 bloggers to tag….I tried to tag those whom I visit but hadn’t been tagged recently.

Embrace Life Cupcake Challenge

I had some time to browse some fellow stampers blogs last night and saw so many inspiring projects.  There are so many REALLY talented stampers…you amaze me!  Once in awhile I get a chance to look at Taylor’s Cupcake challenge and wanted to participate when I saw the sketch last night.  Here’s the card I made for it.  I haven’t used Cameo Coral for quite awhile so I challenged myself to use it.

This is a Basic Black card base with layers of Cameo Coral and Certainly Celery and Watercolor Paper.  The stamp set used is Embrace Life.  I used Versamark to stamp on the Cameo Coral layer.  Jet Black Stazon was used on the watercolor paper.  Then I colored the images with the Aqua Painter and CC reinker.  A touch of Bashful Blue was used around the flowers and the Certainly Celery Marker was used on the stems.   The set used for the sentiment  was Sincere Salutations and stamped with Basic Black Classic Ink.  Three 1/2″ circles were punched out of Basic Black then 3 dew drops attached to the center.  Dimensionals pop up the Certainly Celery layer and one of the flowers.  All finished off with the Black Gingham ribbon

Thank you for visiting with me!

B is for Birthday

It’s a kinda dark Monday morning…think we’re going to get some more rain.  That’s o.k…we need it.

I took a look at Jen del Muro’s sketch challenge last night and looked at my stamps–I REALLY need some new ones–and decided to try the set Just B with the sketch.  Here’s what I came up with.

This is a Certainly Celery Base with layers of Apricot Appeal and Tempting Turquoise.  The layer of Tempting Turquoise has been run through the cuttlebug with the swiss dot embossing folder.  The edges are cut with the ticket punch

Three 1 3/8″ Apricot Appeal squares were punched and then the flower from Just B was stamped in Apricot Appeal Craft Ink and Clear embossing powder used on it.  I used a different color button in the center of each flower–certainly celery, apricot appeal, and tempting turquoise from the Fresh Favorites I button set.    The buttons were attached with glue dots.

I stamped the “B” in Tempting Turquoise Craft Ink and then embosssed it with clear embossing powder.  and then cut it out.  The Certainly Celery paper behind it is from the Designer Series.  Thanks for visiting and have a nice day!

Celebrate with Stars

I hope you all had a great Independence Day.  Our power flickered in a quick storm and then my internet wasn’t working so I couldn’t post this.  I made it for the Verve challenge using stars.  Think I used enough?  It was really hard to get a good picture of this so I hope you can get the idea.  I only had a white and a royal blue backdrop and the card didn’t show up on the white.

It’s a white card base with Night of Navy and a few touches of Real Red at the corners.  The star, USA, and celebrate stamp are just the $1 stamps at M…  The star and USA are stamped in Night of Navy and the celebrate was stamped in White Craft ink then embossed with white embossing powder on Navy paper.  It perfectly fit our small oval punch so I punched it out and layered it on a Real Red large oval punch.  The white square in the middle is a 3 1/8″ square with a 3″ square of Brocade Blue.  The Brocade didn’t photograph well.  I punched four 1 1/4″ squares out of the Prints Pack and layered them on the Brocade.  I used the mat pack and punched the holes all around the outside edge.  Then I used Real Red, Night of Navy, and Silver (non-SU which also didn’t photograph well because it’s shiny) and punched out a small star then the large star around it making an open star.  There is a small white Rub-on from the Anchored set in the small Real Red star.  I attached them with glue dots.  The large Night of Navy Star is the bulk chipboard star with Night of Navy cs that I used with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder.  The other Night of Navy stars are also out of the Swiss Dot paper.  It’s all finished off with the Red Gingham Ribbon.  Now, who can I send it to?  Guess I’ll have to wait for next year!

I tried a grunge? distressed? version for a friend who likes that look but it’s just not me and I can’t pull it off!

SC183 & CC173

Happy Thursday all!  And may I wish you an early safe and happy 4th!

Like many of you, I’m finding the demands on my time to be a little different with the kids home for the summer.  I find myself having less time to stamp and that is probably how it should be…priorities, priorities.

I took a look at the SCS Color Combination challenge and the Sketch challenge.  I decided to combine them and I put this card together.  I stamped my Fun & Fast Notes teacup image on it and thought I needed to reink my Jet Black Stazon…so I did.  Then I tried several times to use it and I had too much ink transferring to the stamp so I finally gave up and tried something that didn’t require watercoloring and Stazon.

I don’t love it but it’s all I had time to do before needing to get dinner ready.  This is a Black 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ base with layers of Wild Wasabi and Certainly Celery and Purely Pomegranate and the image is stamped on Natural White.  The stamp set is Garden Whimsey.  I shaded around the outside of the different layers with some Creamy Caramel and the cardstock’s matching ink (WW, CC, PP).  The black scalloped rectangle was cut with the Nestabilities.  The flower stems are in the WW and the flowers in PP.  The “bugs” were stamped on the flower layer with Basic Black and then stamped again on a scrap piece of the Natural White cs.  I cut the body (of the bugs) out of the seperate piece and popped it up on the flower image then added a little Crystal Effects to make them look shiny.  The scalloped rectangle is also popped up on the card and the Black Gingham ribbon finishes it off.
